1. Visit Osaka Castle

Osaka castle is one of the most visited sites in Japan. Osaka Castle's construction began in 1583 and has been reconstructed and rebuilt several times throughout history. After several reconstructions, the castle is modern on the inside and somewhat museum-like. However, it still remains an important piece of Japanese history.

While visiting the Osaka Castle, be sure to also check out the Nishinomaru Garden located in the Osaka Castle Park and enjoy a nice picnic while observing the view of the castle.

2. Visit Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

Only a five minute walk from Osakako Station, the Kaiyukan is one of the largest aquariums in the world and a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The varieties of sea-life are extensive and are captivating for children and adults alike. This is a fun and educational activity to do and is definitely a must-see destination when in Osaka.

3. Go See the Floating Garden Observatory

The Umeda Sky building are technically two skyscrapers connected by a bridge. At the top of the building is the popular Floating Garden Observatory in which people are treated to a view of Osaka from any angle. Although going all the way to the top may seem daunting for those afraid of heights, the view makes it worth it for those do go check it out.

4. Check out Dotonbori

Dotonbori is a must see location for those in Osaka. The district is known for its many great restaurants, arcades and nightlife scenes, but was traditionally a theater district. During the day, there are many shops and cafes to check out. At night, the district comes alive with bustling people, neon lights, and delicious foods like takoyaki. 5. Ride the Tempozan Ferris Wheel

Next to the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, the large Tempozan Ferris Wheel offers a relaxing 17 minute ride for those who want to enjoy a nice view while resting their feet. For those who like a little bit more of a thrill, there are carriages with glass bottoms so you can see what's going on right under your feet.

6. Go to the Osaka Science Museum

For those who are a fan of educational activities, or for those who have children that need to be entertained, the Osaka Science Museum is an enjoyable place that Osaka has to offer. There are often interactive activities for children to do and is a great family pastime. Just beware that the signs are all in Japanese, but many have reported enjoying the exhibits despite the language barrier.

7. Osaka Universal Studios Japan

Those who are a fan of Hollywood, will also get to experience it in Japan! The Universal Studios in Japan is a great place for those who are a fan of theme parks and want a day of family fun. If you're feeling adventurous, checkout the ride Hollywood Dream-The Ride for a thrilling roller coaster ride where you can personalize the music that you hear.

8. Amerikamura

If you're into shopping, another great place to go visit is Amerikamura, also referred to as Amemura, to see a combination of Western and Japanese style. The center is known for many Western fashion stores, bars, and nightclubs, as well as live music and Japan's first cat cafe. There is also a small replica of the Statue of Liberty that further gives this place that American look.

9. Check out Hozen-ji Yokocho

This 17th century Buddhist temple, although relatively new, is a historical landmark of Osaka. If you're craving a bit of culture, this unique spot is a nice place to visit. Although a quiet, small space, it attracts visitors due to the moss covered statue of the deity Fudomyoo. People splash water on the statue for prosperity and to expel evil spirits, thus the resulting moss growing upon the statue. 

10. Instant Ramen Museum

For those who have enjoyed the Japanese snack food Cup Noodles, this museum makes it that much more enjoyable. Here you can create your own cup of Cup Noodles and choose the flavor and toppings that go within it. You can also customize the cup and take it home as a cute little souvenir to remember the birthplace of the first instant noodle product, Osaka.
