The Floating Castle
Surrounded by the Jingugawa River, Toyama Castle is also called "The Floating Castle."
Toyama Castle was built in the mid 16th century, and was historically owned by many generations of different warloards. Today is maintained by the government as a public park.
While many of the original buildings were destroyed, the stone fence surrounding the castle as well as the Chitose Gomon Gate from the Edo Period still remain. The other buildings have been restored, and in the castle tower is the Toyama City Museum. There is also a park on the castle grounds with walking paths, benches, and places to relax.
