Kamo-mioya-jinja
Shimogamo Shrine's formal name is Kamo-mioya-jinja, and it is one of the oldest shrines in Japan and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto. The shrine is dedicated to the veneration of a Tamayori hime, literally, the spirit-inviting princess, and her father, Kamo Taketsunomi. The shrine has been an object of imperial worship since the early Heian Period.
