A Brother's Memorial
Takadachi Gikeido is a memorial for Minamoto Yoshitsune, who was killed in the 12th century on an order by his own brother, the founder of the Kamakura shogunate, Minamoto Yorimoto. The older brother considered the younger brother to be a threat in his quest to become the ruler of Japan. The younger brother fled to Hiraizumi and was given respite there. A local lord betryaed him, and the brother took his own life rather than being captured.
