Nakagusuku Castle
Nakagusuku Castle was one of the castles built in Okinawa during the time of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which was in existence for hundreds of years until the 19th century when Okinawa became a Japanese prefecture. Today, there are well-preserved ruins of the castle, and the castle's layout is easily recognized. This castle is especially interesting as it was divided into multiple citadels.
This castle is a part of the Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
