Peaceful Coastal Views
The Amaharashi Coast is located in the northern part of Takaoka, in Toyama Prefecture. The view of the coast is one of the most beautiful in Japan, as the clear waters reflect the Tateyama Mountain Range behind. A white sand beach and distinctive rock formations also contribute to the coast's beauty. Camping on the coast is popular.
In the late 12th century, the Kamakura government was founded by warlord Yorimoto Minamoto. Legend has it that his half brother, who was opposed to him, escaped to Toyama. He waited at the Amaharashi Coast under the shelter rock until the sun came out to continue his journey. Amaharashi means "to stop raining," which is how the coast got its name.
