Japan's Top Image-Search Sensation
Arakurayama Sengen Park is located halfway up Mount Arakura in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture. The park was established in 1959. However, it wasn't until recent years that this spot gained widespread fame, all thanks to a Thai influencer on social media!
Originally, it gained popularity as a must-visit location for Thai tourists in Japan. Its prominence grew when it was featured on the cover of the "Michelin Green Guide Japon," attracting visitors from various other countries. Foreign postings played a crucial role in introducing this spot to many Japanese travelers. The remarkable thing is how this place's fame has come full circle, making it a wonder of reimportation back into Japan.
Chureito Pagoda
The five-story monuments are erected throughout Japan to commemorate and honor the spirits of those who died in the war and were unable to return to their hometowns. The design of this five-story pagoda was inspired by the one at Shitennoji Temple in Osaka. In the early 1950s, a road was built through the forest leading to the mountainside, about 100 meters up from the base of the pagoda. Despite more than ten years passing since the war ended, constructing the five-story pagoda was extremely challenging due to the scarcity of construction materials, technology, and funds. However, driven by the passion and enthusiasm of many people who had experienced the war and lost their family members and friends, the vermilion-red pagoda was finally erected on Mount Arakura. It now stands as a symbol of their hometown, providing a breathtaking panoramic view of Mt. Fuji.
