Ginza- Time Slip to Showa Period

Jul. 25 Mon by histeam Things to See

Ginza is famous for its luxurious streets with high brand shops. It is still expanding as many new shops open. Near Ginza you can find Yurakucho and Shinbashi areas. Below the girder bridge there is an area that maintains an old Showa period aesthetic. The view of the city suddenly changes here, taking you back to the past.

Today I am going to introduce several things you can enjoy in this atmosphere.

1.Self-service sake dispenser!

This sake dispenser can be found in Okinawan cuisine cafe. There are many types of Okinawan sake, and you can enjoy turning the tap and filling your glass by yourself.

2.Retro interior design still remains in many shops.

There are many shops that still maintain a Showa aesthetic and are interesting to see.

3.Tables and chairs are available outside shops, so you can relax in open air space.

In this street many pubs put tables and chairs outside for customers to enjoy a night breeze. It is common to begin a conversation with a stranger here and drink with them!

Drinking with locals has been known to be a very fun experience.

If you are in Ginza just to shop, be sure to drop in to an old neighborhood and make friends with locals. Experience an atmosphere of the Showa period.
