Natural Beauty

Toyama Prefecture is located in the Chubu region of Honshu, Japan's main island, along the Japan Sea Coast. Toyama is a special place for both its nature and its ties to tradition.

Toyama Prefecture's nature is abundant- over 30% of the prefecture's land is allocated to national parks. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine route provides some of the most scenic hiking in the world. The Kurobe Valley is a hidden gem with amazing views. Unazuki Onsen is a famous hot spring town with traditional Japanese inns and old-style hot spring baths.  Most famously, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the historical Gokayama Village is in Toyama. Toyama Bay, surrounded by the Tateyama Mountain Range, is 1,000 meters deep. Fresh seafood from the bay is another speciality of Toyama, including firefly squid, yellowtail, and shrimp.
