Kiyoken Shiumai Bento
What to Eat
Yokohama's symbolic flower is the rose, then Yokohama's symbolic food is... yes, shiumai. The most famous shiumai, made by Kiyoken, is a Yokohama specialty that was born in Yokohama, inspired by the Chinese culture of shaomai (steamed dumplings). The recommended way to enjoy shiumai is with a "Shiumai Ekiben". Ekiben is an abbreviation for "Eki-uri Bento (bento boxed meal sold at train stations)," and in Japan, there is a custom of eating bento purchased at stations on trains when traveling. Why don't you experience a wonderful train trip with a taste of Japanese culture? In addition, visitors to Kiyoken's Yokohama factory can tour the shiumai and bento production lines. If you are interested in the history and secrets of shiumai and ekiben, this is a must-see.
