Shirakawago (Gifu)

Shirakawago in Gifu is a site of cultural and historical significance, and is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the Gifu Prefecture, the site is a beautiful destination. During the winter, the village becomes topped with snow that paints the village into a charming winter wonderland.

Shirakawago is most known for its historical Gassho-style houses with roofs that are made out of palm. When winter comes, the snow piles on these old wooden houses, creating the perfect winter scene. It almost looks like the ideal village that you would see inside a snow globe!

Rail Train to Toyama (2hr 10min)-->Take bus to Shirakawago (1hr 25min)
